A Private tour of Alhambra with local guide, strolling through its palaces, gardens, towers… is quite an experience full of sensations. It is like a journey through time veiled by mysteries and incognitos. Its walls, its lattices, its inscriptions, its games of light and colour, the sound of water, its sights, conveys beauty and harmony. They also evoke stories from the past that transport us to another culture, to another way of understanding life, of living it.
Through this tour your guide will teach you to read, perceive and understand the silent language that emerges from the monument and also from the elements that integrates it. Thus, you will understand their relationship with the surrounding environment and discover the messages that are present in the architecture of the Alhambra.
According to the scheduled time of entrance ticket to the Nasrid Palaces, you private guide will set up a personalized tour through the Monumental Ensemble of the Alhambra. In this way, during the 2 and a half hours that the visit lasts, you won’t lose a thing of this unique enclave, which was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
We will begin the visit discovering the Palatine City of the Alhambra (the only Palatine City dating from the Islamic Period that has been conserved). First of all, we will discover its beautiful Nasrid Palaces (Palace of Comares and Palace of the Lions).
We will visit the Madrasa of the Princes (Royal University) and the Mexuar (meeting room of the former Council of Ministers and also place where the Sultan gave justice). Next, we admire the Façade of Comares with its beautiful decorations. That was the place where the Sultan celebrated the public hearings, receiving the subjects who requested it. Through the Patio de Comares or Patio de los Arrayanes (Court of the Myrtles) we reach the Comares Tower, an area that was exclusively dedicated to the sultan, since it contains its private rooms. There is the Hall of Ambassadors, where the sultan held private hearings with ambassadors and high-ranking people.
We continue uncovering the Nazrid architecture, visiting the impressive Palace of the Lions, which through its construction and decoration marks the Heyday of the Sultanate. We discover the architectural details of the Mocárabes Room and Kings Room. We will also learn the tragic legend of the event that took place in the Abencerrajes Room.
Then we will discover the Room of the Two Sisters, which is the most complete and best-preserved living house in the palace. There stands out the romantic Mirador de Lindraja, a low oriel window, to sit on the floor and from where, supposedly, the Sultan contemplated the Albayzín and the Sacromonte.
Next, a mandatory stop at the famous Fuente de los Leones (Fountain of the Lions), the heart of this palace. Here, the murmur of the water that comes from this fountain, the reflections of light and the delicate decoration of its palace with its gallery of arches and columns create a divine atmosphere.
The Private visit to the Alhambra continues through the Palacio del Partal with its beautiful terraced gardens heading to the Medina (which was the neighborhood of artisans, merchants and servants of the Royal Family). This walk through the Medina leads us to another prominent part of the Alhambra: the Generalife Gardens. Yes, there is the Monumental Alhambra with palaces made of stone, brick, stucco, marble … but Nature is also part of the Alhambra: the gardens, the orchards and the forest …
You cannot say goodbye to Alhambra without first getting to know Generalife and its famous Arabic gardens. This is a unique and exuberant space that pretends to be the closest thing to paradise. Or at least with such an idea was conceived, since in the Muslim culture the celestial image is linked to the figure of the garden. The truth is that beauty and harmony reign in the Generalife. Here everything seems to be arranged to delight your senses during the visit. The murmur of the water, the reflections of light, the perfume of the aromatic plants, the delicate decoration of his palace, the color of the flowers …
With the Sierra Nevada Mountains as a spectacular landscape in the background, the Generalife was a recreational farm used by the kings of the Nasrid Dynasty. In addition, their gardens once supplied the kitchens of the Alhambra. Monarchs came to this place in search of privacy and tranquility.
Once the Private Visit to the Alhambra has finished, your guide will say goodbye to you, letting you continue dreaming of the enchantment of that golden age of the History of Spain.

Amazing trip with amazing guidance
We did the private tour, one guide for our group of four. She had humor and deep kmowledge of the history and arvhitecture which really made the Alhambra come alive for us. Much better than our visit 24 years ago.
Excellent!!!
Great knowledge of gardens, arch., history. People were lined up out the door, and I will tell you that having time to linger over what interested us, and moving a bit more quickly through what was not quite as compelling was fabulous. She actually stayed an extra 1/2 hour (which I didn’t realize because the time flew by). I would add that I lived in Europe 5 years (I’m American) but this time period of 12-17th century, I knew very little about. Moorish history is so interesting, and my kids (4 teenagers) and I absolutely loved having a guide to make this time period come alive.
We met our guide, Daniel, at the main entrance and moved through the gardens and palace at a leisurely pace as he explained the history of this amazing place. He was fluent in English and very informative on the history, architecture and botany of the palace and gardens. His personality and knowledge of the Alhambra, the Gardens and the region in general made this an unforgettable experience.
